Accessibility Statement

This is the full accessibility statement for the Circlewebs site.

Access keys are just one of many access initiatives used in web page implementations today. Other technologies which are aids to web page visitors, include page readers and page magnifiers which can be switched on by the user.

User Agent Access keys

User Agent access keys offer a convenient mechanism for people with motor skill disabilities to enable them to navigate sites more efficiently. Access key combination support can be patchy and you may encounter problems when trying to use these methods, depending on the browser version you have installed. I have provided links below to sites where you can download and install the latest versions of popular web browsers. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to contact me on any issue and I will return your email or call.

Most browsers support jumping to specific links by using access keys (keyboard shortcuts). These enable people to navigate a web site without having to use a mouse. Here are the key sequences to use (for this website) for some popular web browsers.

Access Keys

Inconsistencies: Please note that access key support can be patchy across some browsers (Earlier Versions of Internet Explorer can be poor). If you do find that the access keys do not operate as expected please contact me and tell me your concerns. I will attempt to remedy any issue I find.

W3C Standards: The pages within this web site comply with all priority 1, 2 and 3 (where possible) guidelines of the W3C WebContent Accessibility Guidelines. All pages (with known exceptions) also validate as XHMTL 1.0 Transitional. I have checked all pages for validity to this standard and you can validate each page yourself by selecting the link in the bottom left hand corner. All new web pages are checked as part of the authoring procedure (to the XHMTL 1.0 Transitional standard). Also, all pages on this site use structured semantic markup (as recommended). For instance H1 tags are used for main titles, H2 tags and lower for subtitles and highlighted text.

Navigation: At the top of each page there is a Skip to navigation link to enable people using a screen reader to skip to the main content of a web page. Every page has a global navigation bar, which includes links to all top level pages on the site.

Links: All Links are written to make sense out of context. i.e. where links to files are made these are marked. In this case, the title attribute of the link gives information about the title and nature of the link. In cases where a link leads away from this web site, a new browser window will open.

Images:Text descriptions are provided for all images which appear in this site. I am currently checking complex images to make sure they include long descriptions to explain the significance of each image to non-visual readers.

Style sheets: Style sheets are used to designate font size and colour, both in 'ordinary' text and linked text, and background and other visual layout aspects of tables. If your browser or browsing device does not support style sheets at all, the content of each page should still be readable. However if you are experiencing difficulties please contact me ('info at circlewebs') for further assistance.

More Styles: For more information on the styles incorporated in this website please visit the site-stats page.
